WINDSHIELD SURVEY SUMMARY AND REFLECTION

WINDSHIELD SURVEY SUMMARY AND REFLECTION

This paper will detail the initial experiences I have had with the family that I have chosen to shadow for this class. This summary and reflection will give me the chance to explain what I have learned so far. As I assess, observe and educate this family over the next several weeks; I will do my best to report back my findings and summarize them in detail. I am very excited to get the opportunity to do this assignment! I actually feel that this is one of the more beneficial classes in the UOP lineup and see this as a wonderful learning experience for me, when it comes to learning about the community in which I am close to. Although I do not live in the same direct area as the family that I have chosen, it will be a great learning experience for me to better understand those in my surrounding environments. Understanding Community as a Whole What is a community? In this circumstance it would mean a group of people who inhabit the same area and who depend on one another for the important necessities of life, like food, shelter, protection, etc. (MacQueen, McLellan, et al., 2001). Community health, is a field of public health that focuses on the improvement of the healthy living within a certain geographical area (Sines, Saunders, & Forbes-Burford, 2013). The community is seen as the client only when the nursing focus is on the collective or common good of the population, but not when it is caring for the individual itself (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2014).
