Week 5: Topic 5 DQ 1 What is a Student Learning Objective (SLO)? How can SLOs improve collaboration between teachers? How are SLOs different than IEP goals? How can SLOs improve your instruction?

SLOs is a long-term academic goal or set of goals created by a teacher or team of teachers using

data. Teachers are focus on student learning and collaborate with other teachers to make sure

students achieve their academic goals and what can be improved in their classrooms. SLOs are

different from IEPs because SLOs are long-term academic goals for group of students, where the

IEP is an individual’s goal or goals set based on their disability. SLOs can improve teacher

instruction by knowing what goals your students need to reach. It also lets you monitor the

student’s progress toward reaching the goal. SLOs also promote reflective teacher practices if

the student is not reaching their goal, the teacher then can look at how to change up the lesson

for the students
