Week 2 Ihuman Reflection Developing the treatment plan and selecting appropriate diagnostic tests, medications, or other treatments: The patient was a 72 year old male who complained of shortness of breath that has been progressively getting worse. He has a cough with white frothy phlegm, intermittent wheezing, wakes up short of breath at night, has leg swelling and abdominal bloating. He also reports increased fatigue and he eats a lot of salt. Based on the subjective and objective data I was able to diagnose him with congestive heart failure. I honestly struggled more than I expected to with the differential diagnosis and diagnostic testing, I think because I work on an inpatient cardiac floor as an RN so my mindset was stuck in inpatient, rather than thinking about it clinically in the outpatient setting.
