Topic 2 DQ 1 Identify two GCU Library scholarly databases that will help you find the best research articles to support your capstone project change proposal. Discuss why these two databases are better than Google Scholar or a general Internet search. What benefit does peer review have over a regular research study/academic article? PubMed is a database that has over 32 million citations in biomedicine and uses sources such as MEDLINE database (Stannard & William, 2021). CINAHL which stands for Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature is packed with over 5,606 journals in nursing (Stannard & William, 2021). These resources are the best for my capstone projects because they provide evidence-based research backed by significant scientific data. They are easy to use, and I am familiar with navigating them due to using them throughout nursing school and during my bachelors' program. Not to mention, most colleges recommend the two databases above because they are so resourceful and reliable. Peer reviewed documents is essential for the health care system because it provides benefits to the author and the reviewer of the work within the documents/article (Wierzbinski-Cross, 2017). Peer review is a third-party reviewer of the research documents to verify accuracy, nonbiased research, and information that might need to be added (Morley & Grammer, 2021). Peer viewed articles are more trusted than a basic research study or academic article because they are being looked at by other researchers, professors or professionals within the field. They are not being compensated for their time or effort so there is a limited chance of bias. Also, with peer reviewed articles, the peer reviewing process helps provide positive input to the researcher and helps them expand on their own knowledge (Morley & Grammar, 2021).
