Roles in APN Professional Development Plan

 

Introduction

 As an advanced practice nurse, one is supposed to follow various sets of rules and protocols when carrying out their practice. APNs must ensure that they follow the guidelines provided in the Nursing Practice Act. As such, they must follow the scope of practice. The Nursing Practice Act differs from one state to the other on the scope of practice for APNs. The state selected for practice at the moment is Arizona and I plan to practice in the state. The discussion focuses on the information on Arizona’s Nursing Practice Act with the scope of practice for APNs in the state. The leadership position for APN has a great impact on the nursing practice as alluded to by Hernandez (2019). There is a variation in the styles of leadership that may be related to one’s personality. This paper aims to discuss the Roles in APN professional development plan.

APN Scope of Practice 

Intended state of practice after graduation

The state that has been selected and that I will be working in after graduation is the state of Arizona. This is one of the states in the US where I intend to get my licensure and register as an APN after completion of my MSN program. The reason for a section of this state is that I can be able to access the healthcare facilities in the state with ease since it is my home state. The other thing is that I was able to get mentored in the state and I trust that it could be fair for me to start working from where I believe I got to learn about nursing.

Educational, licensure, and regulatory requirements for state

The Arizona board of nursing is tasked with the provision of licensure to APNs to the world in the state. The board focuses on various aspects when providing licensure to nurses. The requirements that are looked into include the educational background of the person and the practice experience. The education requirement for APNs in the state of Arizona includes the need for one to have a nursing major at the nursing graduate level. There is an expectation that one has a certificate from an accredited institution and that it is supposed to be an approved recognition of the jurisdiction that it is located in….
