Rationale for the Blood Glucose Level testing before and after the Medication

The testing conducted before the administration of NovoRapid aims at evaluating the levels of glucose in the blood at the time of injection which is crucial in dose adjustment. The amount of drug administered to the patient has to aim at correcting the deviation from normal of the blood glucose level. In calculating this dose, it is crucial to have an accurate reading of the blood glucose level in order to avoid too much insulin than necessary which would lead to hypoglycemia. The use of too little insulin to what is necessary would lead to poor control of the symptoms with the persistence of the blood glucose level above the normal level in blood (Shirin et al., 2019).

The evaluation of BGL after the administration of insulin is essential in order to confirm the achievement of the therapeutic target. The role of insulin administration is to restore the glucose level to normal level. It is also possible to be bombarded by hypoglycemia if the dosage is exceeded. Exceeding the necessary dose is possible if there is poor measurement before drug administration. All these negative possibilities are avoided by measuring the BGL after medication (Shirin et al., 2019).
