Community Practice Experience
Reflection 1.
Insurance services and continuing training on practical long-term care patient assessment will be among my specific learning goals and objectives for the coming week. I’m going to find out more about long-term care insurance, the services that are provided, type of assessment required, forms to be completed, and conditions that trigger long-term care benefits. Throughout the week, I’ll stay at the office and learn everything there is to know about long-term care insurance policies and the types of assessments that are required. I’ll also learn how to familiarize myself with the required documents and how to complete the forms. So far, no problem/ element of placement have taken place during this week that the instructor should be aware of due to its nature. Everything has gone, as per to plan and I am hopeful that it will continue to do so throughout the remaining practice
This week, I was given the task of working with a long-term care insurance policy and how it relates to patient assessments. As I previously stated, long-term care is increasingly relying on evaluation to determine payment, eligibility for services, and to plan needed care. Long-termcare insurance policies, for example, require two types of benefit triggers for insurance eligibility and payment: either you have severe cognitive impairment or you need assistance with two out of six activities of daily living (which typically include bathing, dressing, toileting etc.)(Campbell et al, .2010). It’s important to remember that long-term care services are not covered by typical health insurance. We can establish the individual’s qualifications for services based on the data collected by the caregiver during the first assessment which implies we can learn if the individual applies for long-term-care insurance or not.
