As a part of public health practice, low and middle-income countries normally go through a lot of challenges in controlling infectious diseases and preventing such diseases from spreading. Such challenges normally include having limited health care facilities, having limited or non-existing surveillance systems for infectious diseases, or poorly functioning existing systems (Haileamlak, 2018). Low and middle-income countries also struggle to control infectious diseases because of the limited availability of trained public health practitioners. Most low and middle-income countries also have limited communication networks which significantly affects surveillance and control of infectious diseases (Haileamlak, 2018).

Vaccines are a critical part of health, but health care systems are impacted by globalization. Some countries do not have surveillance systems in place that allow determining need. Provide an example of how globalization has impacted South America or sub-Saharan Africa.

Globalization has significantly affected the public health in sub-Saharan Africa in a positive way. As a result of globalization, low and middle-income countries have been able to enjoy health improvements through the diffusion of low-cost health technologies, new health knowledge and ideas related to human rights (Nguea et al., 2020). A specific example where globalization has positively impacted the public health of sub-Saharan Africa is through the reduction in child mortality and infant mortality rates in countries across the region. Through globalization, international organizations such as The WHO and other important stakeholders have therefore been able to leverage global resources to help improve the public health of low- and middle-income countries in regions such as sub-Saharan Africa (Nguea et al., 2020).
