. In the advanced world, social networking platforms provide avenues for socializing. People share their experiences through social media sites. The individual from the far-flung areas of the world can reach the information in their refuge. The frequently used social media platforms are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linked In, etc. These platforms provide audio or video chat rooms via which one can grab the attention of others. Many of my colleagues have a habit of sharing their experiences about the patient they're assigned to look after. They keep up posting about their jobs at a hospital. The content usually posted is harmless and surely shared with good intentions. However, we cannot always expect a positive response from viewers. Sometimes the conversation led in the wrong direction (Charalambous, 2019). A few days back, one of my nurse mates posted about a patient diagnosed with a severe illness. The nurse wanted to share the efforts they made to lessen the miseries of severely ill people. People respond negatively; they think the nurses now take the patient's sufferings as a globalizing stock. The discussion seems uncontrollable. People blame the hospital facility too. When I get to know about the incident, I flared up at the nurse for her posts. The nurse firstly feels insulted but feels sorry for what she has done. I later apologize to her for being loud. She got realized that this was sensitive content that should not be shared on social media platforms. Q-2 Discuss why nurses have a responsibility to uphold a standard of conduct consistent with the standards governing the profession of nursing at work and in their personal lives.
3 Include a discussion of how personal conduct can violate HIPAA or be considered unethical or unprofessional. Provide an example of each to support your answer. Answer: Nurses have a responsibility to support a manner that will uphold their conduct at practicum sites and in their personal lives. The nursing job is complex that is majorly impacted by the nurses' conduct. Nurses are responsible for governing their duties and taking care of others. Nurses foster the health of their patients with requirements governing their duty. Therefore, they focus on sustaining the standard of conduct to exhibit uprightness (Bijani et al., 2017). They develop solidarity in their personality, so the patients put their trust in them after God. They secure such traits not solely for their professional development but their devotion to personal and patient care. The personal behavior of nurses could be unethical or unprofessional, depicting the violation of HIPAA. For example, the nurses who take part in gossiping with their patients and co-workers show low self-esteemed and no respect for their job. They tell their patients PHI which is damaging for their privacy. This is unethical conduct. The nurses who did not actively participate in all parts of their jobs like community health teaching show low value to their profession. The nurses are not engrossed in promoting wellness or health restoration in the community. This sounds like unprofessional conduct.
