Some conditions represent spontaneous alterations in the ability of a cell to proliferate and function normally, and in other cases, disease results when external stimuli produce changes in the cell's environment that make it impossible for the cell to maintain homeostasis. The main purpose of this discussion is to analyze and evaluate a case scenario of a 16-year-old boy with no PMH and NKDA or food allergies presenting with a sore throat lasting for three days with a positive strep test. I analyzed a clinical scenario and discussed how genetics played a role in the development and presence of sore throat disease. The Role of Genetics In the given scenario, a 16-year-old patient visits the clinic with a primary concern of a sore throat. After evaluating subjective and objective information, the patient is diagnosed with strep throat. This condition is caused by Group A streptococcus (GAS) bacteria, and the prevalence of this infection is higher in children than adults (Brouwer et al., 2023).
