The group therapy that has been selected in this discussion is the one on role-playing as presented by Henson (2017). In the role play, there is an undertaking of group counseling for adolescents who are suffering from anxiety. The therapy focuses on the different perspectives of the healthcare measures and that called for the understanding of the steps that are taken when handling teenagers who have anxiety. In the play, there are four participants. Molly is the counselor, Jill, Kala, and Blair are the teenagers who are experiencing issues of anxiety.
Evidence from the literature that supports the techniques demonstrated
Pardede and Ramadia (2021) depict that group therapy is one of the ideal methods of helping teenagers who are suffering from anxiety. As per the authors, the use of group therapy is recommended because it will allow the teenagers to realize that they are having similar situations in their livelihoods. The other advantage is that with the use of group therapy the teenagers can be able to share the challenges they are experiencing with others and they can get help on how to navigate the way that they feel. According to Masataka (2019), healthcare providers can be able to improve on the actions that are being taken as it ensures that one can be able to get to learn and understand the struggles that the others are facing.
