NRS-493 Strategic Plan Summary Solved Assessment Description

The proposed nursing practice intervention is the significance of patient education throughout their hospital stay and their understanding of it before and after discharge on a medical-surgical floor. Strategic planning for the implementation of this change initiative entails various steps. The first step is to perform the project’s needs assessment. Project needs assessment is critical in establishing and putting into perspective the vital problems faced by the target population (North & Kumta, 2018). In The project at hand, needs assessment in ensuring that proper educational initiatives are established by empowering nurses to evaluate the existing patient education programs and contrast them with the standard programs to decide on areas that need adjustment. The other step in strategic planning is the development of specific objectives (Mittal, 2019). Developing specific objectives entails the creation of nursing practice intervention, which is the significance of patient education in their entire hospital stay on a medical-surgical floor. It also encompasses validation of this intervention to the targeted population.

After developing specific objectives, the next step is to choose the context of the intervention. Selection of the context of intervention entails several segments. The first segment is the creation of a good design and establishing an appropriate theoretical background for the intervention. The next segment is to perform a comprehensive review based on the outcomes from the previous needs assessment and systematic reviews (Mittal, 2019). The reviews are the blueprint for developing the intervention. The next segment in the selection of context for intervention is to avail the intervention and take into consideration the expert perspectives from various professionals about the proposed intervention. After availing the context, the content is prepared based on the suggested solutions in the prior steps (Kerzner, 2018). Ultimately, the proposed intervention is appraised. If the appraisal reveals that the intervention is appropriate for the project, it is implemented and adopted in the organization.
