NR 547: Differential Diagnosis in Psychiatric-Mental Health Across the Lifespan

The role of a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner is multifaceted in the sense you a responsible for assessing, diagnosis and treating individuals suffering with psychiatric disorders. Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners play a critical role in treating mental illness within communities. Some of the mental health issues mental health practitioners address include mood disorders, depression, substance abuse, anxiety, postpartum depression, PTSD, and psychotic disorders to name a few. As a valuable member of the healthcare community psychiatric nurse practitioners are crucial in bridging the gap that exist in treating mental health disorders (Kumar et al, 2020). During this course I have advanced my learning in the aspect of formulating and expanding my knowledge base, as it pertains to differential diagnosis of individuals with psychiatric disorders in mental health settings all while providing patient centered care. This course has broadened my knowledge of utilizing appropriate mental health screening tools
