| Inter-professional collaboration allows different healthcare professionals and practitioners to work together based on common and shared goals and treatment plans. At the core of inter-professional collaboration in healthcare is to approach issues from a team-based perspective or viewpoint, leading to improved patient outcomes and better workplace environment. Inter-professional collaboration is a pre-requisite in advocacy through legislation as it allows providers to work together with other stakeholders like policymakers and elected representatives to attain set goals. In this case, addressing the opioid epidemic needs shared approach and expertise, a unified voice from all stakeholders, effective implementation and continuous improvement.
