Implementing the idea would temporarily skyrocket the wage bill and administrative costs. Handling the problem of overtime, as proposed, would be met by higher prices of managing the health facilities. The hiring of new staff would be needed and improved remunerations for overtime. The government would also be expected to include a fund for scholarships in Nursing courses and training programs for existing nurses in their budget. The financial impact on the economy would be huge in the first 5-10 years as the system adjusted to this new regulation set. After the trial period, there would be an ease on the budget in both hospitals and the government as return on investments would start being met on a large scale. Increased revenues would encourage more training and readily available labor, thus, lower salary amounts over the long term.
Legislature: Information Needed and Process for Proposal
Discuss the how to advocate for your proposal using legislation. Include the following:
Provide the name and complete contact information for the legislator. Representative Yousef Rabhi
House Democratic Floor Leader | 53rd House District
Phone: (517) 373-2577
Email: yousefrabhi@house.mi.gov
Office address: C-141 Capitol Building
Describe the steps for how you would present this to your legislator. I would book an appointment with the house representative. On visiting him, I would make my proposal clear by explaining my reason for crafting it, showing support for the idea from other members of the nursing community. It would also include accurate statistics of the problem in the healthcare industry and the advantages that would come with passing the bill.
Outline the process if your legislator chooses to introduce your idea as a bill to congress. He would sponsor the bill, which would be assigned to the committee for a critical study, then released. It would be given a date of voting when it would be debated by members of the house and amended if need be. If the bill passed by 51% of the total number of representatives, it would be transferred to the Senate for further discussion. It would be debated, amended, and, if voted on by more than half of the senators, be passed. The two houses would have a sitting to discuss, amend and iron out the differences if they were there any. After final approval by both houses, the president would print and sign it to become law.
