Importance of Nurses Role and Education:

“ The Impending crisis, which has been foreseen for decades, is now upon us. The nation needs to act now to prepare the health care workforce to meet the care needs of older adults” – Institute of Medicine

The population of the aged is increasing at an exponential  rate  “expected population would reach nearly 22% till year 2040” thereby increasing the demand for highly trained nurses to help manage their declining health.   Nurses provide  the front line healthcare for the elderly (65yrs and above ) in a wide variety of settings, from their home setting, hospital, and community settings. They also provide preventive care e.g immunization, colon cancer screening. With the help of education, Nurses are able to care for the aging population in a more better way. Meeting all their healthcare needs.

The Significance of Professional development:

According to this statement that “ Nursing is a knowledge based discipline and profession that incorporates a body of knowledge to guide it’s practice” (Smith &Parker, 2015). Nursing profession is changing and evolving very fast to meet the high demand of the nation’s health care needs. Continual learning helps to keep the nurses knowledge current, helps to practice according to the current standards. It also helps to expand their knowledge in new skills learned. The benefits of lifelong learning in the nursing profession will provide a better workforce that can meet the demands of an evolving healthcare system.

Nurses Assistance in managing Patient Care:

Nurses are an important  part in the healthcare delivery, they assist in managing patient through using evidence based practice using Nursing process to treat health condition, they also manage patient care through preventive care, medication managements, risk reduction and safety.  Nurses provides a steadfast commitments to patient care, improved safety and quality, and a better outcomes.
