Identify three major components of the Medicare and Medicaid programs and, based on these components, identify at least two patient coverage gaps for each of the programs. Be clear when you describe the coverage and the gaps as they may relate to specific ages, patient populations, or disease entities

Medicare and Medicaid are health insurance and management plans in the united states introduced to offer proper treatment and care to less fortunate individuals (Berwick and Gilfillan, 2021). The Medicaid program caters to the health of low-income earners in society, where it helps meet the health care built up to a certain percentage, and the patient covers the rest. Medicare is an alternative to Medicaid, and it provides a health insurance plan to individuals over the age of 65 and young disabled individuals.

Two Provisions on Medicare and Medicaid Programs

Important components of the programs are the provision of prescription drugs and inpatient and outpatient health care services. The cost of prescription drugs in the US is considerably high, with the average American not fully meeting the cost of medicines in the event they are diagnosed with a chronic disorder. The provision also proposes subsidizing the cost of drugs for system illnesses and lifestyle disorders; the directive is aimed at helping the population recover from life-threatening conditions and diseases. Inpatient and outpatient health services in hospitals are also a major part of the hospital service in the country. The cost of inpatient care is high, and the government made this provision to help reduce the burden on the patient (Cormack and Brown, 2021).
These provisions in the Medicare and Medicaid programs are important to ensuring the nation is healthy and safe from dangerous diseases. This translates to a healthy country economically, socially, and financially. Therefore, these must be enacted in full capacity to give access to quality care for many.
