While responding to your peers, reflect on their experiences and relate them to your own. As I reflect on this class, NUR 515 has opened my eyes to the many differing theories that are out there and also, I can incorporate into my nursing career. This class has taught me about the history and evolution of nursing theories as well as the conceptual-theoretical- empirical structures for theory. I have discussed and learned only about a few theories and look forward to incorporating and learning about more theories to come. I also have become more familiar with the Shapiro library, conducting scholarly research and evidence-based practice. Lastly, I have learned about different theorists that promote masters level nursing. I use nursing theories each time I work and will continue throughout my nursing career. I may use multiple theories in practice and can use different theories to best fit a nursing situation. Nursing theories aid nurses to use critical thinking skills, analytical skills and improve concept comprehension with the goal to improve patient care, patient outcomes, and nurse- patient communication (McEwen, & Wills, 2019). I have learned a great deal about different theories and the importance they play in evaluating and explaining what is essential for this nurse to accomplish.In addition to being the backbone of nursing, nursing theory aims to guide and improve my future nursing practice.Theory is helpful to the nursing profession as a whole by focusing on the way nursing is accomplished with the aim to improve nursing in the future
