Discussion 1 As Neukrug points out, assessment encompasses a wide range of evaluative methods that provide information about a person; therefore, this historical event could be considered to have had an impact on the evolution of assessment in counseling. In general, the more methods are employed to evaluate a person, the more likely it is that the results will provide a clearer picture of the client (Neukrug & Fawcett, 2015). The objective of a counselor's assessment of a client is to explain and record the client's current situation. Being in the military, we undergo daily evaluations, whether it be through training exercises, ability tests, or exams to ensure that the content is mastered. Counselors can play a crucial role in providing recommendations and changes by using evaluation when appropriate. Formal assessment is well-researched and has been proven to be reliable, valid, and scientific. The informal assessment suggests that such rigor has not been proven but that the technique nevertheless potentially provides some useful information (Neikrug & Fawcett, 2015). Similar to the military, my future counseling career would require the use of formal and informal assessments to pinpoint clients
