How health policy influenced the planning and implementation of your capstone project

As a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, I remained sensitive to my role in health policy implementation and development, which significantly influenced planning and implementing the project. The planning and implementation phases of the project remained adherent to both the "Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act (PSQIA) of 2005" and "Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP)." Concerning the PSQIA of 2005, the planning and implementation process was conducted to ensure that patient privacy and confidentiality rights are not breached (Plantz, 2018). Adhering to the policy helped significantly in ensuring that all the activities undertaken enhanced the safety of the patients and resulted in an improvement in the quality of health. In relation to CHIP, most of the activities, including the healthcare technology adopted was geared toward providing health coverage that to majority of children who are vulnerable to diseases in lowincome families; thus accomplishing the aim of CHIP (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, 2017). From a close analysis of the project, baccalaureate-prepared nurses play a central role in policy development and implementation. Based on the research, healthcare policies should be extended to ensure that effective engagement and communications between care providers and patients or the families of patients are prioritized and given a timely attention to enlighten them on the relevance of different therapeutic interventions.
