 History of Nursing Nursing has an essential place in American healthcare system. Nurses not only work in the hospital but also outside the hospital in healthcare system and different settings. Nurses work collaboratively and independently with other here healthcare professional. Nurses provide Healthcare services to the patient in their homes in home health care. School nurses Provide care in the school to the students from kindergarten through school. Nurses provide care to the long-term care facilities in nursing homes. Nurses also provide care and education to the expected mothers throughout the childbirth period and afterwards as well. In short nurses provide care in every area of the healthcare system. Florence Nightingale The first name which comes in mind when talking about a nursing profession Is Florence Nightingale An elite -class British woman. Born on May 12,1820 in Italy, youngest of two children. Her mother Frances Nightingale and father William Edward Nightingale both were known to be wealthy people of that time. She got her early education including classical education, mathematics, German, French and Italian. Florence Nightingale was active in philanthropy ministering to the ill and poor people of the family’s estate village from the early age, she found her passion in nursing
