Evidence-Based Practice Proposal Project: Implementation Plan Setting and Potential Subjects

The setting in which the ABCDEF bundle will be implemented would be in the surgical intensive care unit of a regional hospital. This hospital is a three hundred and forty-six-bed acute care hospital with approximate forty-four intensive care beds, this surgical intensive care unit has sixteen beds. Each ICU patient will be a part of the implementation in as many ways as applies to their current status. Ventilator patients will have all stages implementable, non ventilator patients will utilize the delirium assessment, early mobilization, and family engagement. Timeline A timeline for implementation being considered prior to beginning any training will be important in the success of this bundle. Lack of follow-through and poor communication are significant issues with any new or change in processes. The timeline would consist of 3 months to develop and train the mentor group chosen for the project. Proceeding to 3 months of education and training of all care providers on how to use the bundle in patient care. The next 6 months will be for implementation, assistance, and education at the bedside with the bundle in direct patient care. The final three months would be to evaluate bundle use and address any issues, making changes as needed for the ongoing success of bundle implementation. Budget and Resources Implementation of such a huge change in care practice will take buy-in not only from the providers but also from stakeholders. From their aspect; providing the budget and resources needed to have successful implementation for the future will be pivotal. Human resources such as increasing the number of respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and nurses will be necessary. Fiscally, these human resources will have an impact due to their salaries
