Discuss the role of state-based action coalitions. Explain how these coalitions help advance the goals specified in the IOM report, "Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health."

The role of state-based action coalitions is to drive change locally via working to change health care through nursing and building healthier communities (AARP, n.d). In the state of Florida, the coalition aims at providing leadership skills in the advancement of the professionals of nursing so that the people of Florida can access high quality and safe healthcare services. The state action of Florida has the vision of ensuring all Floridians have access to safe, patient-centered, and high-quality care in a health care system where nurses chip in as crucial partners in the achievement of success. The sate based coalitions help in advancing the goals specified in the IOM report in several ways. First where the state requires nurses to chip in with other healthcare providers helps in creating a partnership among them which helps in making better diagnosis hence reduction in medical errors. The partnership also ensures that patients are getting holistic care for all their health care needs. Also, coalitions ensure learning from each other and mentorship which helps in ensuring that nurses have advanced skills of healthcare and are fully equipped to address health issues. Also, it is through mentorship that nurses can provide quality care because of reduced chances of medical error
