Discuss interest groups that exist at the state and national levels that influence APN policy.

The interest groups that exist at the state and national levels that influence APN policy include all the key stakeholders, such as the legislative and executive branches of government, the staff, which includes the physicians and nurses, patients, and nursing professional organizations (Brom et al, 2018). According to Brom et al (2018), starting in the late 2000’s, several practice and national organizations published recommendations regarding an NP’s scope of practice, some of which included the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), IOM, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, NGA, and FTC. The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) “is the major national professional organization for NPs, which provides continuing education, professional practice standards, and legislative advocacy at the national and state levels” (Brom et al, 2018, p. 5)
