Describe the work of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Committee Initiative that led to the IOM report, "Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health." Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Committee in 2008, approached the IOM for the establishment of a two-year initiative for the future of nursing with a primary goal for report production of the recommendations of the action-oriented blueprint for the nursing future involving changes in the policies at the national, local, and state level. The RWJF committee comes up with recommendations that were related to the role of nurses in designing and implementing an efficient and effective health care system. Thus the committee ensured that they reconceptualized the nurses’ roles in the context of workforce shortages, current technology, societal issues, and future technology. The committee also looked at the expansion of the faculty of nursing, redesigning nursing education, increasing nursing schools' capacity to ensure they can produce well trained and prepared nurses who can meet the current and future demands in the health care system.
