Giving value to the patients Michelle was finding it hard to express her feeling and she was unable to communicate which in turn hospital did negligently too. A person with intellectual disabilities finds it difficult to have social interaction so they feel threatened by the treatment (Hartley & MacLean, 2009). They should have used a person-centred approach and a holistic approach so that Michelle would feel comfortable around them. The doctors should give time to her so that she can describe how she feels(Haverfield et al., 2018). The hint she gave can also help doctors to identify the problem she is having. Communication should be done effectively with the patient like Michelle so that the health professionals can identify the problem and patients feel comfortable with the healthcare staff. 3 ii. Person-centred Care It is a process of focusing on the care of the patient which can be done by treating the person with dignity and personalized and coordinated support and treatment and making the patient realize their strength. Person Centred Care provides a good engagement and establishes a good relationship between caregivers like the nurse and the patients, creating a good and safe environment for the patient, making timely scheduling so that the patients won’t be deprived of care due to the lack of caregiver which helps to minimize the potential risk of diseases (Navas et al., 2021). The negligence of the hospital and the harmful treatment and healthcare to the patient can be minimized through a personcentred approach. iii. Environmental Care The patient needs environmental care as only person-centred care is not enough. For the intellectual disability and any patient self-time with the environment is important as nature is the best healer and physiotherapist of any human being. Along with the physical environment, there should be a good social environment. The hospital lacked a good social environment as a patient like Michelle suffered from meningitis (Cassoobhoy, 2022). The hospital should have a good physical environment, and cleanliness and proper hygiene should be maintained so that any infection doesn’t spread out(Curryer et al., 2021). Most patient dies from hospital infection as Michelle did despite having a disease that could be prevented (Haque et al., 2018). The social environment should be maintained too so that the patient feels comfortable and for good psychological well-being which is the main factor for the healing of the patien
