Naomi is a 9-year-old girl whose father was incarcerated for four years for committing felony assault, and her mother is a registered nurse. Both parents have no diagnosed mental health disorders, though Naomi's father has shown signs of PTSD without an official diagnosis. Naomi has no significant medical history but is allergic to amoxicillin and is up to date on all vaccinations. She spent much of her life staying with family or alone due to her father's incarceration and her mother's busy work schedule. Currently, Naomi lives with both her parents in Houston, Texas, having moved there six months ago.

Her guidance counselor reports that Naomi has been aggressive towards peers, refuses to follow instructions, is easily distracted, disrespectful towards teachers, and throws tantrums when she does not get her way. These behaviors began three months ago, coinciding with her mother announcing a divorce from her father. Recently, Naomi's aggressive behavior escalated, resulting in a two-week suspension for attacking another student and pushing a teacher. Both the school and her parents are concerned about her safety and the aggressive behavior she is exhibiting
