The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a current law that has significantly transformed the healthcare sector and made the working environment in the healthcare sector to be conducive at the local, state, and federal government levels and therefore made it possible for the healthcare system to address the issues of people who are not insured. After researching emerging healthcare laws, it is evident that Maryland is one of the states that implemented the ACA as one of the laws that have bridged access to healthcare between the rich and the poor (Emanuel, 2017). The state enacted ACA which was aimed at offering affordable healthcare to all the citizens of the state. The ACA was passed in Maryland to enhance the provision of quality healthcare services to the less privileged and the general population. Maryland State is one of the states that records a high number of uninsured people currently covered due to the low premiums the Act brought about. ACA formed a framework for passing other laws that make it easy for undocumented immigrants to access healthcare in Maryland State. The major proposals in the law are to extend Medicaid to the vulnerable. The law also aims at ensuring that uninsured people have access to insurance policies but there are provisions on the need for the budget for this cause to be capped. 40 million dollars was proposed as sufficient to make the objectives of the law be met on matters dealing with the provision of healthcare for undocumented immigrants in the state (Seewaldt, 2021)
