 Needs Identified for Change Healthcare in the United States is largely dependent on insurance companies. With the increasing prices of medication and healthcare, maintaining quality careand paying for services out of pocket is almost impossible. Insurance companies play a significant role in ensuring the quality of care is met. The high cost of healthcare has become a burden on many families and the cost associated with healthcare contributes to decisions about insurance coverage and care provisioning (Kearney et al., 2022). Surveys have highlighted that around 43% of working adults had inadequate health insurance in 2022, while 9% were uninsured and had a gap in coverage over the past year. Up to 11% were underinsured, meaning that their coverage didn't provide them with access to care (23%) (The Commonwealth Fund, 2022). The current assessment aims to analyze the need for change under the influence of economic issues such as insurance availability and coverage and how this impacts the entire healthcare system and patients. The aim is to understand the impact of the economic burden and provide viable solutions that can help alleviate it. Summary of the Issue and Impact Insurance is one of the ways to manage the cost of healthcare. The issues associated with insurance and its impact on healthcare, nurses, the organization, and the overall community are interlinked and complex. Insurance regulations and coverage can directly impact the care that a nurse can provide for a patient. The nursing profession has responded to changes in regulation and financial coverage of healthcare with innovation and responsibility. Their job is to provide the patient with care within the limits of the insurance, while influencing how it is viewed and providing the highest quality of care possible.
