When all nurses at the graduate rank were acknowledged for their contributions and duties, the concept of separating advanced nursing practice from advanced practice nursing was born. A practicing nurse who has received advanced training to provide care to patients in a medical capacity is referred to as an advanced practice nurse, including adult nurse practitioners, family nurse consultants, pediatric nurses, and geriatric, to name a few. The common belief is that every nurse with a master's degree is inherently eligible for advanced nursing practice, however, this isn't necessarily the case. Advanced practice nursing, in contrast to advanced nursing practice, requires post-graduate training, and nurses are outfitted with higher medical knowledge, proficiencies, and scope of practice. When compared to advanced nursing practice, these nurses make more judgments about the required care that patients require, that being that they can diagnose and treat diseases
