Advanced practice nurses have extensive education along with years of experience caring for patients and their families. With this, advanced practice nurses can carry their voices from the bedside to the community by using their knowledge to motivate those in positions of power relating to economic affairs, as well as concerns in the educational and healthcare systems.By sharingexperiences and insights with public and elected officials, they can advocate for patients and families effectively and become an influential push in the policy-making process. Advocating for an individual patient takes a more personalized approach.Being at bedside you have direct contact with the patient, their families and physicians. We receive orders from the physicians and if we deem an order inappropriate, we will discuss it with the physician. If we feel that the plan of care is not appropriate or may have some input on how to improve it, we can talk in real-time with the physicians as well as the patients and their family to make sure that the patients experience is optimized. A second way advanced professional nurses can advocate for at-risk population in their community is focusing on broader issues which affect a greater number of people.Being able to focus on specific diseases or outbreaks will allow us to advocate for those at risk as a group and individually.Advanced practice nurses can become part of a committee or team to help improve on community resources as well as education for a community as a whole and not just individualized.Advanced practice nurses can “shareexperiences and insights with public and elected officials, they can advocate for patients and families effectively and become a powerful force in the policy-making process”[CITATION Mar21 \l 1033 ].
