They have engaged in gentrification of once run-down towns by developing a culture that is soon becoming accepted by most parts of the world. Gay villages are also characterised by growing economic value. The growing recognition of the economic value of the gay community is not only associated with their growing stature in wealth but also with the roles the gay people are playing in urban revitalization and development.
