In medicine, evidence-based methods were initially presented. They have since gained popularity in nursing (Ellis, 2016), education (Pring & Thomas, 2004), management, psychology (Hersen & Sturmey, 2012), architecture, urban planning, public policy (Loversidge & Zurmehly, 2019), law, philanthropy, and other professions. When a therapist decides to pivot to a new therapeutic technique with a patient after receiving convincing new information in the academic literature demonstrating its effectiveness, this is an example of evidence-based practice.
