I agree with you that health literacy describes how individuals obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make an appropriate decision. Therefore, health literacy can make patients to make informed decisions on matters related to their health (Visscher et al., 2018). However, health literacy can also create a healthy dangerous and threatening situation. Health professionals are mandated to ensure that their patients get reliable information that may protect them against making wrong decisions that may expose them to dangers (Shnaigat et al., 2021). The COMFORT communication model is a holistic set of principles that are practiced during patient and family care. The communication model improves communication between patients and healthcare provider. Besides, the COMFORT model communication promotes how some of the health literacy encountered can be managed effectively through collaborative nurse-patient and family interactions. The COMFORT model represents C—Connect, O—Options, M—Making Meaning, F—Family Caregivers, O—Openings, R—Relating, and T—Team. Every element of this communication model is important in providing quality healthcare services.
