Answer 3 for LDR 615 What environmental forces drive organization development in your field or industry?

Environmental factors drive organizational development, including the healthcare industry and nursing in particular. These include technological advances, sociocultural aspects like increasing diversity in the population, and economic circumstances (Burke, 2023). For instance, technological changes that integrate innovative health technologies like telehealth, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, virtual reality, and clinical decision support system CDSS) are important technologies driving change in healthcare organizations? These changes focus on enhancing healthcare access, quality, and affordability. Sociocultural changes like increased diversity in the population are also leading to changes within organizations, especially workforce, where entities are employing professionals and practitioners from diverse backgrounds to leverage their skills, expertise, and cultural competency (Borkowski et al., 2020). The increase in health consciousness in the general population prompts business organizations, including healthcare entities to promote better lifestyles through the products and services they offer.

Organizations respond to change using successful steps to ensure all stakeholders participate and attain the set goals. Therefore, the successful steps to respond to change include identifying the necessary change, creating a plan, analyzing possible requirements, implementing the plan, and evaluating the outcomes of any changes. Furthermore, stakeholders identify an effective change model like Kotter’s change theory to implement the different aspects of changes to attain better outcomes. For instance, change in healthcare is a critical aspect of improving care delivery, especially for patients with chronic conditions like hypertension who require close care (Tidd & Bessant, 2020). The integration of telehealth can improve care delivery among such populations for better outcomes in managing the condition

A personal change experience happened at the height of Covid-19 where the facility transitioned to telehealth to improve access to care for patients who did not have to come to the clinic in person. The facility implemented telehealth to increase accessibility and ensure that all patients had better information. The change affected the organization as it was able to offer quality care to patients in remote locations (Vaishnavi et al., 2020). The organization also increased access to care and even more revenue streams from this intervention. The organization embraced telehealth and other forms of healthcare technologies to improve access and its revenue as well as quality care delivery.
